Miles per gallon. Not kilos per liter. So post your "Mpg" results or start a thread aboot kilos and such. C?
I just think that if its such a big deal you can look up a unit converter on google.

First of all, that comment was from 2008. Second, this is an MPG thread...if ya don't like it, go start a kilowhats per literwhos thread!

Well, my 99 Tacoma 4x4 v6 is getting bout 14 mpg city and about 16mpg highway... Not so good - although not too far from avg it appears...

But my question is HOW DO I IMPROVE IT?!?

Tires would be start I guess (I'll have to check what I got but they definitely don't look good for mileage being rather oversized and square). On avg, how much difference can one expect from switching to a more 'road friendly' tire?
And what are some other strategies?
A link to a thread would fine as I'm sure many exist.
Cheers, b

Mostly stock V6, I get 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway. Magnaflow muffler made a huge difference, along with smaller tires (they are not 31's) and regular upkeep. Also dropped in a K&N air filter and removed the air box spoiler from behind the headlight.

Acheived 19.8 (20) on an all-highway road trip. Normal use is 70% city 30% highway at 17 mpg, so assuming 16 is my all city driving mpg.

91 3.0 Auto 14-town 18-HWY. Those are the numbers the owners manual gives me as well so that is a plus that they have not lowered

Tread patter, weight, and width/height of your tire will make a difference. The factor most people don't take in is weight. My wheels are 18lbs and tires 40lbs so each corner is only pushing 58lbs vs some people pushing 75+.

Maintenance, synthetic fluids, not lifting a truck way more than it needs to be for no reason, not having roof racks or junk hanging off hurting gas mileage, and most of all Driving Habits, all can add up. I get 15-18mpg in the winter in the city and 20-23 in the Summer with mixed driving on 265/75-16s.

Everyone bashes on all the little things but all the little things add up quick. For some it's totally not worth it to care, but for others it is a fun little challenge to see how good of fuel economy you can get when not wheeling.

Which Magnaflow muffler did you get and how much did it run? You're not talking about a cat+muffler setup but just the muffler right? And what tires are you running?

Are you correcting for the change in tire diameter?

Using Fuelly doesn't ensure anyone makes proper calculations.

When I visited Australia I noticed they give mileage as "liters per 100km"
Crazy...

Nope. I do not calculate that correction. What interests me more than the minor difference in the calculations, is the ability to see trends.

While using Fuelly does not guarantee that one enters data correctly, it does eliminate the human error of calculations.

I guess I don't see 12% for me as minor ha

also, miles divided by gallons is pretty hard to mess up on a calculator haha

I do miles driven x 1.119 = true miles / gallons = mpg.
