Just did an experiment on the last road trip...

21mpg round trip over 600 miles and 5000 ft elevation gain going one way...kept my speed at 65 mph no more only slowed on the climbs to 55 mph. 4.10s 33x10.50 r15 bfg km2s 3.0 v6 rebuilt bored out .40 over. Not too bad I guess! That is corrected gas mileage too.

This same drive at 85 mph nets me a whopping 14 mpg haha

Around town I'm consistently getting 18-19 mpg...will be decreasing as I begin to use the AC...

Guess I can't complain too much about my economy.

19.55 MPG

But since I have 32" tires, instead of the factory 225/75 tires (28.3"), you have to take into consider the increase in tire diameter, since the odometer is still calibrated to the 225 tires.

I won't go through the calculation, but I calculated 22.12 MPG...my best tank yet!

You should do a real calculation...

19.55 x 1.12 = 21.9, yes? no?

Where did you get the 1.12? I multiplied by 1.1307.

I just filled up today. The results:

312.5 miles as read on the odometer.
353.34 corrected miles.

The tank took 15.667 gallons

19.94 MPG
or
22.55 corrected MPG

Even if the corrected miles are off, 19.94 MPG is still very good for the 3vze. I've been using Lucas fuel treatment in every tank since last November, or something like that. I'm not going to use it in this next tank and see if it makes any difference.

It also depends on driving habits, too.

I never drive faster than 70 mph in mine since at that speed it's screaming at about 3000 rpm. The past couple tanks of fuel I haven't been on the freeway. I've been mainly driving country roads with few stops.

My advice (though not the safest): Go as fast as you can using the least amount of acceleration as possible and shift to neutral when going down hills. It seems kind of obvious, but it is essential.

During the past couple of months, I've been achieving anywhere between 17 to 21 MPG. Mostly highway driving, but more than a few mountain road miles mixed in.

The beast also passed Calif. smog (barely) a couple of weeks ago.

Lots of knocking on the way home today, usually when pushing mach looney in order to pass someone. Maybe Flying J gas sucks?

'94 Toyota pick up 4x4, 5 speed, 22r, 235/75/r15's( I think that's about 27") stock gears. I get 'bout 18 city 22 highway, but that is probably because I just put in a crate motor (new from o'reiley auto parts) about 8,000 miles ago. I bet if I fix the cat. and put the aftermarket K&N in I might get a bit better

1990 4 runner 4x4, 22re, 32x11.5's, new top end in 2010, new plugs, wires, cap, etc, oil changed, new filters for oil/air, 213k miles, getting 138 miles per tankful. I suck at math, so $3.88 a gal, prolly pretty sucky.

Unhappy

I'm getting just over 15 mpg, but my 02 sensor has been shot since Feb so I'm lean burning until I get my broken 02 bung replaced.

your truck should have a 17.2 gal tank... About how many gal do you put in every-time you fill up?

With that math you're getting like 8.1 miles per gal. Something is way off.. Even if you add 15 gal because people typically don't run out of fuel before they get more that would be 9.2 miles per gal.. which is horrible.

I would say something is not being calculated correctly, also your speedometer is probably way off due to your bigger tires.

With a 17 gal tank full you should be getting well over 300 miles per tank.. which you might be lol.

I would investigate this heavy... and find out what the problem is one way or another.. if you're only getting 8-9 miles per gal you might as well be driving around in a big block V8.. you would be getting your monies worth at-least with the extra horse/torque.

If i couldn't figure it out I will sell it. I'm sure you're getting much more then that though.
