New owner with window switch issue

Hi all,
I am new to the pickup forum. I have just purchased an 86 xtra cab 4X4. The power windows won't function with the main driver door switch, but when direct power is supplied to the connector, they work. Bought new switch, and still don;t work through the switch Suggestions?

Break out your Meter and do some testing .!!!

The switch you replaced was brand new out of the box ?? The old switch was tested and did not work ??

Corroded connectors ?? Might not be visible by eye .

Broken wires from years of use between the door and cab??

What connector?
A problem well-stated is a problem half-solved.

When something does not work !!

The best thing is to just replace the whole vehicle with a new one !!!

That way your sure to get it working correct

Switch is new out of the box. Figured it was the switch since I could unplug it and power the windows from the connector that plugs into the switch. The switch lock button locks the doors, and the driver window down when pressed unlocks the doors, Will have to start looking for a short and clean the connector I guess.

Mine quit working. I haven't got into it yet. But My truck alarm would lock the doors and roll up the windows. It got wet and has not worked since. I suspect its the problem

Have you checked the breakers at the fuss box?

I would check where the wires come out of the door into the cab.

It sounds like you have some wires touching not a short !!

That have rubbed the insulation off in the years of using the drivers door
