yeah, something to the equivalent of THIS to keep your signals from flashing faster than normal, but yeah, they are a direct replacement. But its a heavy duty flasher relay or an LED flasher relay.

My ONLY hate with the LED's is that they are polarized. This means if you put them in one way...and they don't light up, you have to flip them around. Another good option is XENON bulbs which are pretty bright as well but I only thing it comes in white or blue only.

I also worked with High Intensity 194 Wedge Style LEDs recently and they are brilliant compared to a standard LED:

... sometimes, i am slow, right, 194 being a wedge style. Well ether way i was just saying to look for a SMT type LED, and to stay away from 5mm LEDs. THIS would be a SMT type emitter, and THIS has 5mm LEDs which aren't as bright.

SR5- I'm planning to place an order with superbrightleds.com, and want to make sure I order all the blue LEDs I need at one time. I haven't taken the dash apart yet, and would like to wait until I receive my new LEDs. You say you replaced:

"cigarette lighter - blue
Ash tray - red
glove box - blue
light the shines on your Ignition switch light - blue
gauges - blue
heater controls - blue"

So that is a total of 8 bulbs replaced with LEDs (I believe 3 # 194 bulbs go in the gauge cluster)?

Are the other 5 bulbs (cig lighter, ashtray, glovebox, igniition, heater) all # 74 bulbs?

What about your oil, check engine, and other warning lights- did you change those to blue as well?

Thanks for your help- your work has inspired me to finally get this long-planned mod completed!

good luck man, and pm if you need help

yes, the glove box...etc are all #74 same goes for all the warning lights, their all to #74
your running lights are 194 as well, so you can have fun with them,
same with almost every other outside light on our trucks

also keep in these bulbs are polarized meaning you might have to turn them around in socket to work, so before you button everything up, check it,
learned that the heard way, had to take it apart 3 more times,

good luck and pm if you need help

Excellent mod!!! I recently did this on my 2004 taco!!! For those of you with newer vehicles... My instrument cluster had 4 #194 bulbs, and the heater controls use the 4MM neo-wedge base bulbs (3). I used the 5 LED wide angle #194s and they are not polarized.

Guys, what size bulb lights up the center console gear indicator in the 95 Auto? I'm guessing it's more than one # 74 bulb, with the larger area it has to cover.

Also, unrelated to LEDs, my gear indicator label (P, N, D, etc.) has several large "bubbles" between it and the clear outer cover. Has anyone replaced their gear indicator label/sheet where P, N, and D are printed?

Remember, if you want you can change out the stock turn signal indicators (IN the cluster), they take 2 #194's, make sure you take out the green plate, as your light will not be blue if you don't...

All of the warning lights are also #74's. I replaced a bunch of mine, like the BRAKE light, 4wd...

Just so you know, the cluster takes 3 #194's and 2 #74's to iluminate it...
SO

Cluster:
2 #74's
3 #194's
Optional
2 #194's for turn signals
#74's for warning lights

And then all the other spots take #74's

I also threw two #194 leds into my side marker lights

Now I just need to do my footwell underglow!

When I first discovered Yotatech I found a mod thread on LED conversions and it was the first mod I did on my truck from this site. I was taking pics for some new driving lights I just installed and I took a few pics of the BLUE LED's I installed way back.

Looks good, Toyospearo!

FYI, Toyota says I have 1 bulb behind my center console gear indicator (P, N, D, etc.)- Toyota part 9098111018. ($4.11 each, FYI) Can anyone translate that to an aftermarket bulb size or number so I can order the appropriate blue LED? The stealership could not do so. It may just be a run-of-the-mill # 194 bulb, but inquiring minds want to know (for sure).

I would just pop off the cover and take a look. You have to take it apart anyways right....

well honestly it can only be a 194, or a 74, so just order an extra of each.

Guys,

I put all my blue LEDs in the dash, cig lighter, keyhole, ashtray, climate control, and glove box, and most work fine (I ordered from superbrightleds.com). I'll post some pix when it's all reassembled.

However, the "ECT" and "A/T Temp" indicators will not work with the LEDs; they will only light up with the original bulbs. Also, the "battery" and "rear brakes" indicators stay on the entire time the truck is running when using LEDS. They don't stay on when the original bulb is used.

My gear indicator is not lighting up, so I assume it won't work with an LED either- I tried turning the ECT and A/T Temp LEDs both ways in the sockets, to no avail. I also made sure the LEDs had a snug fit in the sockets.

What's going on here?

The problem with the lights could be a resistance issue... some electronic indicator circuits depend on the resistance of the light to function properly, when you switch to an LED you need to add a resistor to make it functional.

A few of the gauges would not work with an LED, so I left them intact with the original bulb. Here's final product:
