which idler pulley is this?

was wondering which pulley is this, i have a 91 3.0 and just took off the water pump and the pulley that's attatched (the one the spring attatches to) and did not find no washer behind it. Is it the number 2 idler pulley (water outlet housing? why is the washer so important, does it act as a spacer for proper timing belt alignment? here's the pic of the washer

It is the #1 idler pulley,or the tensioner pulley. The washer is to allow the tensioner to rotate with spring pressure to set the tension.

thanks guyz

thanks for all your help, my idler pulley is slightly different than the picture I guess the 91's are different than the 92's and up. I looked and looked to see if I dropped that washer but can't seem to find anything, I'll try looking at a parts fiche or dealer, anyone got a 91 and earlier to confirm this?

Glad you found out. I was nervous when I did mine because I followed the same directions that you did, and it specifically said not to lose the washer. Disregard my PM.
