Wink Hydro locked my runner sat night

Everyone there that night thought she was a gonner. I thought great. At only 293,000 miles I'm gonna be one of the few who lose a good 3vze before 300k. But nope my yota lives to die another day. Let's just hope she lasts me till I ship out for the Airforce. So the story. Relaxing with my buddies Saturday thinkin hey it's been a while since we hit the trails and it's rained a lil bit let's go. So we gather up some girls and head down. All is good drivin through the woods. We make it to the beach and we see the run that is our favorite. Scoping it out and I say to hell with it I'm going. Same thing i said the first time we decided hey let's drive there but everyone was too scared. So I clear the first deep part and open her op for the second puddle and blam half way through it got lot deeper and the 3veeZy took a lil too much to drink. Stoped he dead i was thinkin damn rpms were pretty high up there I hope it runs enough to get home. I crawl out knee deep in freezing water and pull 1 and 2 crank and nothing. Then pull 3 and 4 crank an nothing I pull out 6 knowing the PO told me #5 wouldn't come out when he changes the plugs and still nothing. I started wrenching on 5 and couldn't get it out. So dam we gotta pull it out. Good old 76 Jimmy was there and hooked it up. after 3 straps 2 clevices and almost pulled his recever off the Jimmy she was finally out. Made it 40 miles home without any Cops seeing us. This morning I got that plug that some idiot cross threded in 5 out of there cleared the watter new plugs in and after about 10 min of crank sputter. Crank sputter sputter. She finally started and runs. No rod knocks or anything. Gah this truck just won't die. Just a cross threaded spark plug hole on 5.

Only problem now is that it will start and idle fine and when I give it gas it's fine but it won't go back to idle. It Just dies. So I can start it drive a block and when I push in the clutch to stop engine just dies. But will start back up and idle fine. Same thing every block. But I think this I just wet electronics. It did this last time she got real wet an after a day or two it cleared up. We I hope it. will clear up again.

Well that's my adventure. I'm on my phone so can't get pics of me and the runner in the water but will do when I get to a computer. I flippin love this truck. Oh and I just did front wheel bearings 5 hours before. Didn't think there would be so much water haha.

Go Yota! You were lucky, others (including me) have't been as lucky.

As far as your issue, i would place my monies on wet wire(s).

Good luck!

It was just below the door line where I stopped. I could hav been deeper before mut it morethan likley just splashed up and came in through the headlight. I have been planning a snorkle for about a month too lol. But I think thia situation shows how good of engine I got. #5 held strong even being the only one with a plug in it and being tugged on in gear. Isn't that the known cylinder for headgasket issues?

Yea I got towed the whole way. I usually woudlnt mind a runin with the cops. Been pulled per tons of times and haven't gotten a ticket knock on wood. But since I'm dep for the airforce any law enforcement activity is frowned apon and has the ability to disqualify me for being able to leave for basic.
