The sending unit in my 4Runner acts up every so often, so i know its going bad, but i will buy a new one from the dealer, it may cost alot more but at least i know it will work.

what you need to do is pull yours out take it with you to the auto parts store and see what you can find close to it and try it and see if it works that would prolly be your best bet in my opion.
on another note i wouldnt sped 18bucks on one that MIGHT work cause if it doesnt you will need to take it out again! and put your stock one back in

U can fix the externally rusted line, with some 3/8" steel brake line. I drilled out the old one on top of the sender, then stuck the 3/8" brake line in, welded it to the senser, then sealed with jb weld, then flared it to fit the rubber line. Inside, I connected the 3/8, to the old fuel line, with some rubber fuel hose, and a couple clamps., took about an hour total, and hasnt caused any problems in the 5 mos I've had it like that.

A friend of mine bought a new direct replacement one for about 1/2 of what the stealership charges. If anone's interested I could get you the #. $60 to $80 is alot better than the $140 or more
