Fuel pump/ Sending unit questions
my fuel pump died on me. But my fuel gauge still works fine. Do i need to replace the sending unit as well, or just the pump? I know i should go ahead and replace it while im in there, but its about a $100 difference.

Yiou will need to pull the tank or lift thebed, which ever is easier for you. Your guage lever will be toward the back end of the tank. Your pump is the front one. If your guage is fine I wouldnt worry about it.
I get my pumps from http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-Fuel-Pum...05%26rk%3D1%26 they are alot cheaper and I have never had a problem with them.
As far as your tank goes, check the "J" line and I would even check the whole return line as I have seen them clogged. On post #2 on the following link, I have some more info if you have further problems and how I solved some of mine. Link>>>https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f199...thread-227399/

There is a box in the bottom of the tank that the sock/filter and return line set into. Did you get it in the correct position? I dont think it is possible to get the lines switched, but it has been awhile since I have been into one.
There is a positive and negative marking on the pump and wires. Are those right?
What about your fuel filter? On the back of the fuel rail is the return line. What I do is get a clear container and pull the hose off of the back between the fuel rail and firewall. It will fill a quart jar in about a minute or so. That lets me know I am at least getting fuel thru the rail.
Another way I check and some may not like it, but I crack the bolt holding the Cold Start Injector loose and just do a quick key on and off. It will spray a little fuel. Just make sure engine isnt hot.
Shouldnt effect it running, but the return line can get plugged putting alot of extra work on your pump.

How do you know it didn't fix "the problem"? What WAS the problem? If all you had was "truck won't start," you might have fixed the wrong thing entirely.
Because spraying gasoline anywhere around hot parts, electrical components, neighbors with cigarettes, ... is a good way to end up in a very bad way. To test the fuel flow you can put a piece of fuel line on the Fuel Pressure Regulator return line to a container. Still pretty dangerous, but at least reduces the spraying factor.
If the return line is clogged, it will raise the pressure in the rail and the truck will be so rich it probably won't run at all. At a minimum it would run badly.
If you are sure the pump is running and you're sure you have no pressure in the rail, it is certainly possible that you knocked enough crap loose in the tank that your fuel filter is now blocked. Replacing the fuel filter is probably something you should do "anyway," except that it is pretty tedious on a 3VZE.

the problem is that my fuel pump isn't priming. and ive already replaced the filter. and yes, im getting power to my fuel pump. i tested the two wires with a multimeter. i just dont know. could it be the relay? but if it was the relay...those two wires wouldnt get power would they?
