Dimmer switch

I bought a gauge cluster and it says for the lights on it to hook it up to the dimmer switch for your gauges. Which wire do you splice into the red or white?

What? The gauge thing I bought has water temp, voltage, and oil pressure but to hook the lights up for the gauge I want to splice it in with the dimmer switch. There's a red and white wire and I don't no which one to splice into.

What truck-year-model?
On your (after-market, right?) gauge cluster, how many wires are there that need to be hooked up to stock wiring?
Why don't u post schematic of your tail light curcuit and of your gauge cluster so people who understand electrical can help you? Remember... some of us may be on the other side of the world; how do we know what u have in front of you?

For the 84-95 the cluster is a direct swap and no need to splice in for the dimmer switch.

If you bought an AFTER MARKET gauge cluster (I think Terrys87 is referring to a stock Combination meter, usually called a "cluster"), the dimmer switch on a 1993 4Runner has a W-B to ground, and a W-G to attach to the GROUND side of the combination meter lighting.

So, I don't think any of us know what vehicle you're talking about, what "cluster" you're talking about, what dimmer or what wires.

Where's the red and white wire- on your AFTERMARKET gauge cluster or the stock wiring?
