Any cool ideas on what to do with the deck light. Mine currently doesn't work but I hear people do lots of cool stuff with it. Where is the deck lamp? Any ideas or links please

???

You don't know where it is, so how do you know it does not work?

And you wanna mod it before you fix the problem, or even find where it is?

What truck model and year? A problem well-stated is a problem half-solved.

Once you find it and get it working, you can mod it so you would not need to turn tail lights on to turn it on (i.e., if camping inside the reardeck) here.

Deck light is just to the front of jack compartment, on side panel, near roll-bar. Let us know when you find it, an we'll help you troubleshoot. Once working, you'll see it's pathetic - LOL!

If you want to upgrade, options are:

I have an '86 Pickup Xtra Cab Long bed 2wd with the Deck lamp, it does work, but has there ever been an aftermarket replacement - maybe one that added a third brake light option? I have spent hours looking on google, ebay, amazon, and about 50 other websites that even mention "Toyota Deck Lamp" but haven't even found a replacement for the original.

There are people who use strips along the roll bar that's what I'm going to do otherwise as far as a brake I'm sure you could do it but I'm not sure where to start on it

Chevy Roof-Mounted Third Brake Light

I think the Chevy Roof-Mounted Third Brake Light would fit the cab on first gen 4Runner. Considering getting one from a junkyard (from Chevy Astro Van, S-10, Blazer, GMC, Safari, Jimmy).

Looks like this

I added a second one to the right side FYI. it works great and it looks stock. Plus I replaced the stock bulbs with LED's.
