Changed oil filter to ford V8 version

In all my 22RE's I have run the ford V8 filter. Large, Cheaper and more oil capacity for engine. On my 92 there is some type of adapter attached to the block, sandwich style. Is this some type of oil cooler? Looks like it's connected to the coolant hoses. Thanks

I think he means the newer V8 Ford modular, 4.6, 5.4 which takes a 820 oil filter which I think is the same as fram. The newer modular V8's are metric thread I think. The 302's are not.

metric? what the heck are you talking about. your toyota engine doesn't have metric threads. they're 3/4"-16.

The 22rte has something similiar, I assumed it was an oil cooler of some type... I didn't plumb it in though:

Yes the 302/351/360/460 etc... Ford Filter.. Very available and cost effective. The 22RE hasn't changed since I bought My '82...yes in '82 new off the showroom floor. Sold it with 280,000km in 1989.

Yes that is the adapter in the picture. But I believe on mine the hose barb is pointed up, but will check.
