Need info for ATF change

I have a '98 4Runner 2wd automatic 4cyl. I also have a .pdf version of the service manual. I would like to change/flush the ATF in this vehicle, however, for the life of me I can't find any reference to how much and what kind of fluid to use in the tranny. All the instructions say is 'drain the pan' and 'fill to the cold fill mark on the stick' and it refers me to 'DI 269' which doesn't help me. Here are my questions:

1. It is reasonable for me to try to do a flush at home (I have pretty good set of tools)?
2. Where can I buy what is necessary (besides hand and air tools) to flush the tranny (i.e. pump, etc)?
3. How much would these items cost?
4. If I want to clean the filter, is it hard to get to and replace?
5. How much and what kind of ATF and differential oil do I need?

Any other tips/info for doing this would be appreciated.

TIA

You might like to check the Amsoil site. They have an auto tranny flush procedure including a list of things that you'll be needing for the flush.

HTH.

1) Easy! http://www.amsoil.com/faqs/ATF_and_F...Procedures.pdf
2) Basic socket set, screw driver, a five gallon bucket will be helpful
3) Probably already have them
4) MOST of the Toyota A/Ts have screens, two bolts, blow it off with brake cleaner
5) I prefer the synthetic, Amsoil, but it depends on who's propaganda you want to believe. Varies by transmission, 8 - 12 quarts. Rear diff, 75-90, check owners, 2.5 quarts.
