i thought the best exhaust system is no exhaust system, just the pipe? i guess that would be for racing n not for daily drivers!

I have flowmaster super 40 cat back system with the stock cat and im also wondering how much better it would sound without the cat cuz here in NC 1992 and under don't need to be smogged, my buddies 79' truck with the 22R performs much better but i don't know how it will be in 3.0. I thought the same thing as shoes, but these engines were desiged for back pressure idk prolly just a high flow cat would do the trick.

Sure, if you live at redline, but the muffler and cat provide some backpressure that lowers top end hp, but raises bottem end tq.. .hi flow cat and muffler and a 2.25" system are best for the average user on the 22RE.

They sounds like ASS without the cat. I ran a header, no cat, and a flowmaster for while, hated the volume and it sounds like a POS honda... run a hi flow cat, for every situation but track only its the correct, best answer.
