Angry hub problems!

i have a 1994 p/u and i changed out the bearing twice in it and when it went out agiain i figured the hub or spindle was bad. I bought a new hub and spidle bearings races seal and warn premium hubs and installed it all. Now when im in 2wd there is a loud scrapeing noise coming fromthe hub. When you lock the hubs it doesnt make that noise but starts to vibrate real bad at 30mph almost like im running boggers on my truck. When its in 4wd its fine. I have taken it apart agin and still cant figure out what the heck is goin on with it. Anyone that has any suggestion i would greatly apreciate it.

How did you set the preload on the bearings? Torque wrench or spring scale or other?

i took a breaker bar and tighten the spindle nut until there was no play in the hub and made sure it would spin the i backed off the spindle nut 1/8th of a turn. i cant afford a torque wrench right now after the toyota dealership robbed my bank with the spindle and hub. i can probaly borrow one though

The bearing adjusting nut (inner) needs to be torqued to 18 ft. lbs., then the locknut (outer) needs tightened to 58 ft. lbs. The bearing preload is supposed to be 6.4-12.6 lbs., using a spring scale pulling on one of the lugs. Get that torque wrench, if you can, then you can decide whether or not it's the bearings. You should stick with AISIN hubs, they're the best out there. If you have them still, they're worth their weight in gold, literally.

You can borrow a torque wrench from a lot of the major auto parts stores here. You can also hang a weight on the lug stud to see if it turns. I've cut up a milk jug, taken a coat hanger to make a little basket and put a known amount of weight in to the basket, then hang the basket on a lug stud to see if it will turn. I don't know if that's your problem but it's a start. Good luck
