I think a 2wd 4runner will need the 4wd lift since it's the same frame/ifs system just WITHOUT the front diff/drive axles if I'm not mistaken... Maybe someone can confirm?

The 2WD pickups have a different front suspension than the 4WD pickups (which are the same as the 2WD and 4WD 4Runners). Also, the pickups have leaf spring rear suspension, the 2nd gen 4Runners are coil springs. So likely nothing will swap over between a 2WD pickup and a 4Runner.

2WD pickups use different control arms/ball joints and have the torsion bar attached to the LCA vs. the 4WD pickups and all 4Runners have the torsion bar on the UCA:

no, it wont work on a 4x4 chassis. that kit isn't even a bolt on kit for a 2wd truck. it needs lots of fab work to mount it with the uppers using heims and not cross shafts.

your $1000-$1500 budget will probably not be enough for a long travel kit for a 4x4 with shocks and axles and anything else you need. keep saving and do it right the first time with a GOOD kit and keep the 4x4 capability.
