2JZ-GE + turbo swap

I did have plenty of issues. That's why it took more than a year to prepare the engine etc.
I fabbed the sump twice, did the bellhouse twice cause I wasn't pleased with it etc.
The only problem I ran into during first start, was the idle-servo. For which I forgot to hook up the ground wire.
After that it was only playing with the TPS etc.
Only small bug I still have sometimes is that she stalls when going from full throttle to a quick stop. I think it's only the dashpot cause but it hardly happens so I'll leave it like that for now.

Thanks again guys.
Lately I've had several people ask me how fast she really is, so during a family trip last weekend to the Ardennes in Belgium I had an opurtunity to test things.
I got her at an easy 190kmh (109mph) going uphill with 2000rpm still left.
Loaded with family crap and my sons bike on the roofrack.
It is definately not made for this so I only did this for a very short while.
On the way home my wife offered to use her cellphone to clock me, so, as the gentemen I am , I came to a complete stop immidiately
.(road just outside town with no traffic either way). I tried to push it really hard, so offcourse I redlined in first, shifted wrong and than revved it in second.
She clocked me at 9 seconds at 100 kmh (62.5 miles per hour). She did about 75 at max rpm in second before I shifted to third gear.
I dunno if its fast, but I think I can do better if I don't want to overdo it.
What are some times from normal 4R's etc?
Everybody hear drives diesels so that's no comparison. I recall my friends Hilux 2.4D doing some 21 seconds and my old Turbo 2.4D Hilux some 15 seconds.

With other tyres and the roof rack removed I'm sure she will go past 200 easy on a level road.
But since it's not a Porsche cayenne I will not attempt this, if I wanted to go that fast I would have got a supra in the first place. For me the acceleration counts, the top speed is irrelevant.
As for the Ardennes, I wasn't taking scenery pics, but if you like surroundings like this, your in the right spot. Did lots of dirtbiking here too.

Yeah... I caught that one, too.
My 22R-E(B) 87 Runner will bust 110 on the Autobahn... But it takes a while once you are pushing 100 for any acceleration.
Maybe we could link up and I can give you a comparison run someday? I am near the Belgian border, and the Autobahn is here.
My junk:
22RE
0.040" overbore
EB SS valves
EB SS pistons
EB 270/430 cam
I think my 0-100kph times are in the 9-10 second neighborhood on the 4-cylinder, 31's, and stock gears. Put the 33's on it, and the times drop to the mid-teens.

Sure we can.
I looked it up and it's about 275 km. I live 1 km from Gangelt, just across the border.
Would be nice to compare.
Any offroading area's near you? Cause I'm not driving about 600km for 5 min. if you know what I mean.
When?
Not this weekend cause I have a party fridaynight so i'll be sick the following 2 days.

Of course not this weekend, nor the next... Oktoberfest is happening and I'll be in M?nchen!
I just moved here myself, so I am not too keen on the local 'wheeling scene (I relocated from Wallertheim bei Bad Kreuznach). I have heard of an offroad club about 50 km away from here near Kaiserslautern, but it is only open on certain days.
I'll have to look everything up, do a bit of juggling, and I'll be able to come up with a good time... Unfortunately with the impending deployment to the sandbox, most of the free time I have for the rest of the year is in the next 4 weeks, Thanksgiving weekend (US, 23 Nov), and Christmas/New Year's time. Everything else is booked solid with training in Grafenw?hr, Hohenfels, and around the local area. At least my training involves a lot of offroading, so I haven't missed out on much.
It's good that your English is excellent, because mein Deutsch ist nicht gut. I have been in Germany about 19 months and learning the language while surrounded by Americans is a slow process.

Okay, just send me a pm when you have time and we will see. I know some places in Belgium where we can go too. Open on certain times only, have to look it up, but my french kinda sucks.
W'll keep in touch.

i've read through your swap several times over the past few months...very well done. i am curious about something...do you think you would have room under the hood for a subaru wrx/sti style intercooler on top of the motor near the firewall? it looks as if you might, but its kind of difficult to tell from the pictures. the reason i ask is that i like how you mounted your intercooler, but i would like to leave room for a winch. just for reference, the stock wrx intercooler is 18"x9"x3" or 45.75cm x 22.85cm x 7.62. the actual height may increase with the way the intercooler adapts to its y-pipe underneath. i am including a picture.

i guess what i am really asking is several fold: what is your opinion on the doablity of this intercooler? how much actual room i under the stock hood, measuring from the firewall forward (height, width and length)? how much would the hood have to be relieved to make it work?
thanks for your input. again, i dig your project and cant wait to undertake my own. thanks.

Thanks.
I did briefly consider that option, but there are several drawbacks with that solution.
hood needs to be customized alot cause there's not enough room
parts sticking out on top of engine
hardly any cooling surface (small intercoolers)
the intercooler is on top of a hot engine
restricted air flow, even with a scoop
piping is more difficult, large diameter pipes have big radi
It can be done for sure, but there is nothing to gain, except for the winch-option.
On my pickup diesel I used a water cooled intercooler on top of the valve cover (so no air scoop!).
This would work for the 2JZ but it's also small, slightlyt smaller diameter piping and the need for an extra radiator and electric pump.
So I went the easy route and removed my winch. Hardly get stuck anyhow

Ok i'm bringin this thread alive again lol.
I am about to start this swap as well, in a 95 4runner though. I had an idea about for a intercooler substitute but i wanted a second opinion, Why not weld an aluminum box around the intake tubing with a vented cap on top large enough to fit dry ice in, i've heard of similar ideas but am not sure if it'll work, and I don't know much about dry ice lol
hmmmm

The point of an intercooler is to cool the charged air before it enters the intake. Dry ice around a box on a short section of pipe would have little to no affect anyways. The cooling coils need to be small enough to cool a large volume of air as it passes through them.
Besides that, it would be cost prohibitive. Even if you could build a effective form of such box, you would have to continuously buy dry ice. It might be effective in the 1/4 mile, but for trail runs and street driving its useless.
