What is the stock height from the fender lip to the center of the Axle?

Center of Axle to take the tire size out, and I want to know how much lift I have.

there was a discussion on this a short while ago. I think I was the one who started the thread. It was basically asking if there was a height difference between the solid axle 84-85's vs the IFS 86-88.

BTW does not need to be center of axle. all you have to do is get the measurement from the wheel lip to fender with what size the guy is running for wheel diameter. if he's running 16's and you have 15's add 1/2" to his measurement. If he's running 15's and you have 17's then you would subtract 1" from his.

FYI asking for measurements on this site is like pulling teeth. I believe there is also documentation showing all the factory measurements, but have not seen it nor do I know where to find it as I have not really needed it as of yet.

 

I figured that the axle would just make it easier for every one to compare..

Wikipedia has the height at 66.1, but then I have to find the stock tire size

I was about to create a thread and ask the exact same question. My '85 still has the stock suspension. I've read that the front springs are flat, and mine are slightly negative with the truck load. Is that normal? My truck's stance appears 'normal' compared to pics of other stock trucks. I'll take some measurements and post them tomorrow.

see that's the thing 4crawler that is confusing most of us. That measurement and that article is using an 89-95 body not a 86-88. And I am not convinced that the fender wells are cut the same between the body styles and that measurement is accurate for an 86-88 IFS. Not to mention I started another thread a while back about asking if the 84-85 ride height was different than the 86-88 ifs with the same body. No one ever really came back with a definitive answer.

 

Well on my '85 that I bought in '96, it measured 36" ground to front-fender-lip when I got it on worn out 30" tires:

And if I back out the lift on my truck now, I think the front rim-fender height would come out pretty close to the 14" number.

 

Ok, mine is 14" from the top of the 15" rim to the lip of the front fender. So I guess the front springs being slightly negative is normal?

I wouldn't say negative arch is "normal" just normal for a factory spring that is 25 years old and is worn out.

 

Well, does anyone know what it would have looked like rolling off the assembly line?
