Yeah, it's gonna have a hard time on 32's with 4.10's. 4.56 or 4.88 would make a big difference.

I've only heard good things about Engnbldr. I got their timing chain kit and everything was good. When I get a cam it will be from them. Their prices are good, from what I've heard about their other products it's all good, and their customer service is EXCELLENT. I' sent an e-mail asking what all was included in the timing chain kit and got a response a couple minutes later. Put in my order and got a confirmation e-mail a couple minutes later. It shipped the next day they sent me the tracking info same day. So yeah, very good place to deal with.

problem with my gears is i have aussies, which is sweet. but its not the right gearing, which isnt sweet. and its my daily, so i cant exactly wait around to sell em and buy a different gear ratio. any ideas? ive already put em up for trade lol.

I now know about ring and pinions and that the fact that i have aussies is almost irrelevant to the gears. lol. im still learning.

so i got a question, forgive me for it, as i know very little outside and engine bay. if i regear with a locker, do i only change the ring and pinion? trying to decide what to get for christmas, some 4.88s or 5.26s seem like a good idea lol.

Yup, just the ring and pinion get swapped, I'd go with 4.88's unless you're planning on tires over 35", with 32's 5.29's might be a little too low.

I have 33's with 5.29's and it works just fine.

As far as the power goes, Like others have said, its not built for power but for reliability.

My buddy just got an 86 4 runner 22re and the biggest issue hes trying to overcome right now it getting used to having a 4cyl. Especially since he came from a 6cyl jeep and having a 5.0L mustang as a second vehicle.

Nice Runner By the way

well, like i said about the power before, just want it back to stock power. and it has about that. but now i think my tps is acting up, i need a new timing cover, and the damn cold start injector time switch is bad. replaced the connector and it started running like crap again.

A rear diff(84-95.5) will fit in the front and rear of our solid axle '84s. I'm not certain of later years, I believe there are some mods there. Anyway, I found 3 factory 4.88 4runners in my local Pullapart. So I snagged two rears for my '84.

Axle code on door tag is G144 I believe. Erik's differential page explains it. http://home.4x4wire.com/erik/diffs/

Or you can just get Wabbits stuff. It's good too.

wow. lol. thanks, like i said i dont know anything about gears. so a rear ring and pinion would fit in the front? never would have guessed. and my local pullaparts dont usually have toyotas. and if they do theyre in a yard that over prices everything. it's frustrating when youre charged 20$ for a bent and rusty wiper arm you pulled yourself. and another thing to mention is my 4runner came with the original owners manual for an 84 4runner/pickup. and the date says it was produced in 84 but the vin # says its an 85. guess its when the 85s first started rolling out. ive heard doing a ring and pinion is quite difficult. anyone have an opinion on the job difficulty?

8, 9, 10, 11, 12/1984 would be considered a 1985 I believe. What's the production date of yours? Mine is March/1984. And considered an '84.

nov, 1984. also i fixed the time switch issue. i let my buddy work on it while we were at school. and he's a bit of a repair hog. turns out he plugged it it backwards. so i finally figured that out and it runs fine. i got a new wiper motor on the way. and im gonna try and get my drivers window crank working.

The hysteer is a great DD mod. I did mine in the driveway and I also repacked my bearing and replaced inner axles seals and all other outer seals/wipes. I have approximately 50k miles on my hysteer and its been awesome. Got all my parts from Wabbit.

As far as the ruf and chebbies, I have no experience. But Wabbit is fixing to do TG rear springs/shackles for me, and also front shock hoops, and shocks all the way around. Seemed to be the cheapest fastest option for me.
