Project daily driver 85 4runner

Hardcore and nice engine, Damion!
I wish I had the time and equipment to do it, too. The Truck Shop in Miramar, San Diego cut corners on its rebuild of my engine.
Would you happen to have pictures of the EGR Cooler (Does the 1986 have it?), and location? Reason I'm asking is I'm troubleshooting Running Hot issue here. Saw a post about EGR cooler clogging leads to hot exhaust going back into the intake.
Tnx in advance!

The EGR crossover plate is the EGR cooler. Same thing.
The thing on the exhaust manifold you are talking about doesn't have to do with the EGR, rather it is the air suction / air injection system, which wasn't used on 22R-Es until 1988.

I was wrong in an earlier post that it's a part of the engine I'll never see again . If I lay under the passenger side and prop my head just right with some light , I can see it😂

man, I'm starting to miss the 4runner! The only time I see it now is at night after work. No working on it during the day. My wife has been driving it to work all week. It's almost pulling daily duty now. I still have a list of things to do to it but been working on the bathroom finally and it's time for exhaust work on the wrECHO.

a couple more updates on Black Beard, now that the temps are in the 60s an 70s I finnely reapplied the Toyota badge to the new grill. I also got around to replacing The rear drive shaft u joints. I think the rear u joint was ether original or had been in there a real long time. The press had to really work to pop it out. Tomorrow I'm going to start working on rebuilding the power steering pump, that and the hose have been leaking.

The badge was on the original grill. I was originally going to just replace the headlight surrounds because they were painted with undercoating and just really worn out. I figured on the chrome for more light reflection 😂 and just went with the center section too because it was fairly cheap. From Summit Racing no less! I just removed the badge carefully with bug and tar remover and 3M taped it on the new grill. Finding a replacement though, people want lots of money for those along with the side 4Runner badges which I still haven't figured out what I'm doing with yet. I cleaned them up there but they're so cracked even repainting on doesn't look that great. Somebody makes replacements for the side 4Runner badges but don't look anything like original and way too pricey

hope everyone is doing well. In hopes of keeping our minds off of all that is going on right now ( impossible) I decided today's home schooling project for my son would be rebuild the power steering pump. I also added a new bearing for it while I'm there. Now my son has rebuilt his first power steering pump, oh and me too!
Tommarow looks like a good day weather wise to reinstall the pump. I also removed the air filter box at this point to clean all the mess the leaking pump had made. I don't know how long it was in there but there was a gigantic mouse ness in there. I've got a new air filter for it now as well.

One of those is really scary!

Sorry, I couldn't resist...
