People with kids, need some ideas.

I have a 6 year old and an 85 xtra cab pick up on 32's not even lifted yet. He has some difficulty getting in and has for a while but he almost falls out every time he gets in. What do you guy/gals do to help with this? I was thinking about trying to install another handle if anybody has done this what kind of handle? Just looking for some ideas.
Thanks.

Sliders or nerf bars.

Pick him up, put him in.

when i was little, i remember using the running boards to get in, and if it was my grandpa's s-10, i just used the over-head handles

so yeah, nerf bars might work, but you shouldn't have to pick him up for lon if he's eating his spinach and wheaties!

I just pick my 5 year old daughter up and put her in. What's a real PITA is the seatbelt retractor on both sides don't work right. haha.

what he said. he should be climbing trees and getting all stove up at that age. getting in a truck even if difficult shouldnt bother him. if its impossible just pick him up

We had a few time where he did fall out when the snow hit. I don't think nerf bars are going on my truck but sliders are some time this summer, hopefully. I'm just tired of picking him up and if he jumps in when is raining out or snowy he gets if on his legs. I was thinking on putting a strap or handle off another truck on the dash, sort of an oh ˟˟˟˟ handle. And of course both of my seat belt retractors don't work right so theres the infamous belt hanging out of the bottom of the door.

When you put the sliders on, put some grip tape from a skateboard shop on them. It works great.

Lift him in and out....he's almost big enough to get it on his own so it won't be too much longer. If I had OH HECKS on my truck where my 7 year old could use them they'd be monkey bars from his perspective. He started climbing in on his own at around 6 and is on the short side for his age. Just depends on the kid though.

That is a pretty good idea. I think we have some of that here at work.

He already does I just want to make it easier and its only going to get harder when I put the lift on. I just don't want to see him fall out and crack his head on the ground. Then I'd be late for work...

I'll just put a Fisher-Price steering wheel over there so he can use like my short ass does getting in.

My 11 year old fell out of my 4runner today, in front of his friends, when I picked him up from school. 2-3" lift on 32's. He was lugging a 30lb backpack, guess it had his balance thrown off!

I had sliders on my old truck. Didn't like seeing the kids use those to climb in. Slip and fall with your foot wedged between the cab and tube.... and you will be very late for work. It'll take some work to make it look good, but I think I'll add expanded metal between the inside and outside bars on the next set of sliders. And mount them flat instead of angled up. I think that'd help the short wife and short kids get in.

I just attached a strap to the bottom of the passenger side seat. My five year old pulls himself into the floorboard with it then stands up.

I just pictured what it would be like to get your foot wedged in there and falling, ouch. Some great ideas though. I think him and I are both tired of lifting him in since I seem to lift him straight into the piller most of the time. I'm gonna start searching eBay for a Toyota handle maybe.
