Distributor has a hole!

I was setting the timing this weekend and came across a hole in my distributor. So my question is...can I just dab a bit of JB weld to cover it up or is best to buy another one?

(1985 4runner with recent rebuild 22re)

it looks like something hit it? not a uniform looking hole.

Yeah maybe so...I can't figure out what though. Like you said, odd looking(not uniform) hole.

So why not plug it up with something? I wouldn't call it ruined yet if it were mine. JB weld is bound to be a lot cheaper fix than replacement.

No hole there on the stock-type distibutor here.

i was always under the impression it was to stop condinsation build up, but since you said its not a uniform looking hole i"d guess it doesnt belong there. IMO its a situation where "if it aint broke dont fix it" unless of course its very vulnerable to water or something. If its up out of harms way i wouldnt worry about it unless/untill performance suffers
