22re valve adjustment question

I have an 85 22re with a mid range cam in it and the po etched on the valve cover, intake-015 and exhaust-016. does this mean I adjust the valves to these tolerances?

I would open up the valve cover and check the valve clearances with the engine hot first.
While you're in there maybe you could try to identify what kind of cam it is and look up the specs. Other people on here who have aftermarket cams might be able to help you out with that.

That said .015 and .016 assuming that means inches and not .15 and .16 mm is way too much of a valve clearance even with an aftermarket cam if I had to guess.

.15mm would be around .006 inches intake and .16mm would be a little looser on the exhaust which would make more sense.

I think eb's cams are somewhere around .008", .010" not sure though.

Like I said, check where they are now after getting the engine hot and go from there.

I would concure with above , except 8 and 12 are factory specs . 7 and 11 sometimes used .
I have never seen a cam/valve train with those adj. specs , but who knows ? maybe he has special valves in it.

can you call the po and ask him?

Yeah I set it to factory specs and I just don't have the mid range I used to. I can't track down the po and Downey went out business years ago. So I'm kind of stuck.
