The Cream Dream gets a paint job

Well, after always wanting a gloss brown crawler, and the fact that I got a little too drunk with an old friend who had just returned from Iraq and a can of spray paint, the time has come for a paint job. It'll be one color, gloss brown, but while I'm at it I also decided to freshen up my bumpers, sliders, frame, axles, bed, and basically anything metal that I don't want to rust. For all that I like to use the Rustoleum "hammered" finish. It's a fitting name considering that's the exact state of mind we were in when we decided to plaster my truck with words like "cool, dope, F... Iraq, and of course, MadMax!!!!! Here are some "in the process" shots. I might also note that it is a lot easier to do this if it's not raining every day.

Here's a shot of it after the massacre, we had already started the sanding.

This is the good stuff for bumpers, sliders etc.

Obviously not too concerned with details. Dents and bed bob weld clearly painted over.

I decided to paint the jams because I do foresee some tube doors in the near future, and I didn't want my paint job to be totally ghetto.

The hood is the only part I have had time to sand and apply coat number 2 to. I was quite surprised at how smooth and glossy coat 2 looked.

I will hopefully have it all back together by this weekend. My mom is coming out for a visit and I want to take her to some trails while she's here (from Florida).

Yep. Van Sickle from Jax Farm and Ranch in Colorado. It's a high grade enamel, and so far I am satisfied with the way it's drying and hardening, I just need a few days without afternoon showers to put on a few more coats. I'll get a couple finished shots when it's all done.

That's why you can't ever assume. rattle can all the way. Surprisingly, not too much stuck to the paint, if it did I just let it dry and sanded it out and hit it with more paint. This would have gone a lot smoother if it wasn't raining every day. My paper doors and window coverings fell off and I bailed at this point. I'm just going to let this first coat dry and come back for a few more coats when it looks like the rain is going to fade away.
