54mm nut and that big socket

using the home made 54mm socket
so after making the home made socket from the 2.5 in exhaust pipe, I heat hardened it for strength as the material is pretty soft and thin.
I was using it to switch from automatic hubs that finally broke after 300Kmi on my 87 4runner to manual toyota hubs.
It certainly worked but barely. getting the second locking nut up to 58lbs of torque is really pushing the limits of the exhaust pipe material. I doubt it would do a second set without having to trim and reshape the end again.
If you want one that will last buy one. If you need one today and can't wait for one then its a great and quick way around.
BTW autozone in NY does not carry either the 54mm or the 2 1/8 nor would they order it for me

Some people would rather spend $100.00 in materials
using $10,000.00 in machinery and Tools
Throw away the first 4 attempts
Spend the better part of 10 hours doing this .
To make something that can be bought for $25.00

Which isn't so shameful when you make something that actually works. I could tell immediately at first glance that thing was a fail waiting to happen. Got to page 2 and...well what do you know? Nice try though...I guess.
Got mine at NAPA. Works perfect every time.
