yes, but you might want to double check the eye to eye measurements to make sure that some one has not done a conversion to one of the trucks (like put in 57" in springs)

If they're stock spring lengths and stock mounts, any year '79 - '85 is interchangeable.

helper spring--get an old used coil from another vehicle, and jury rig it between your leaf and the frame. www.gearinstalls.com has a good write up about this, and it works well! Mine has that setup, cost me $40 for the coils from a suspension shop that lowers cars and trucks. Watch the spring rate though. To light, you gain nothing, to heavy, rides like a brick.

You can trade straight across, unless his springs (or yours) are longer than stock length. In other words, if both your springs use the stock spring mounts, then they are completely interchangeable.

Front springs have a left side and right side, typically, so don't mix those up. Rears are identical L + R.

Only difference you may see is the rear spring forward spring eye and bushing being different between the two years. In '83 you had a 30mm ID eye and a bushing for an 18mm bolt. In '84 you have a 40mm ID eye and a bushing for a 14mm bolt:

Could easily put in a set of new poly bushings and sleeve the one for 14mm and leave the other one at 18mm.

i dont mean to sound like an ass but its the spring hanger and shackle mounts he should be worried about, not the perch, the perch is the platform welded tothe axle forthe springs to 'perch' on

ok see this is what I needed to know...

how hard is it to swap out bushings?

could I just pull the sleeve out of his spring bushings and but it back in mine when they go on his truck?

The 30mm bushings are simple split types, come out easy. The 40mm ones typically are pressed in and need to be pressed out and the sleeves are bonded to the rubber of the bushing. With aftermarket poly bushings, they are split design and easy to replace.
