Today finished the bell housing bolts up, alternator on, smog pump on and fan with a new fan clutch. Also removed the remaining exhaust system from under the truck.
The old exhaust is out. Tomorrow installd radiator and coolant hoses.

In an effort to save money now I'm in search a a good used smog legal header for my truck. If anyone has one just sitting around and you can part with it please pm me.
thanks
Mike
Due to rain I'm not currently working on the truck. When the weather gets better I'll work. No luck finding a used header so LCE is coming my way soon.
Have a Merry Christmas.
Today I cranked the engine over with no plugs. Oil topped off and in just turning it over I can't see any oil in my mechanical oil pressure gauge. I also had the valve cover off to check everything. Should I try and prime the oil pump? If so how do you do it?
Can't see any oil in the GAUGE or can't see any oil in the LINE? Turning it over by hand or with the starter?
As long as you installed the strainer & oil pump correctly with the gaskets (they are hard to get wrong) the pump should be self priming. As I'm sure you know the oil pump is driven direct off the front of the crankshaft, and is a "gear" pump instead of the "diaphragm" style, so as long as the engine is turning at starter speed it should prime itself. See or find any oil leaks after cranking?
I used the starter, but had the plugs in loose. If I take the plugs out I should get enough rpm to see oil movement.i know everything is installed correctly. And no oil leaks.
