If anyone has a FSM, can you look to see how many solenoids are in these trannies?

I'm interested in the 96+ models especially.

It would be a bonus if someone with a 95-97 T100 could check too.

It is either 4 versus 3 or 3 versus two compared to the solenoids in the A340 H trannies.

I will check tomorrow and have a better answer.

 

It is 4 vs 3, I am pretty sure

The solenoids are:
1) Shift
2) Shift
3) converter lockup
4) 4wd

Thanks for the link, but they only mention the a340e and h (and a540??). That document might be for the older trannies also...

Anyway, the a340f t-case is "supposed" to be mechanical, not hydraulic. The a340h has 3 from what I've seen - from your list 1, 2, 3. The 4WD solenoid, while it appears to be present, is not one I care about at this point.

Maybe the late model a340e solenoid # can shed some light on this??

It says that the A340F has 2 solenoids for shifting.

 

I think that is still the old model. My FSM has info on a340e, h, and f models, but I've never seen a 93 4Runner with an a340f transmission...

Maybe I'm wrong and I'll be converting a Lexus 2WD tranny to 4WD.

 

The A340F tranny should be very close to the A340H except it has a mechanical actuator for 4WD
.....I think the A340F was an older tranny too....you barely see them now.

 

There were varrious version of the A340F. Not sure what is in the 4th Gens, but all of the 4WD auto 3rd Gens had this tranny. Same designation was used in the older rigs, but it was internallly diffferent.

 

I didn't know that the 4th gens are also using the A340F. All I knew was that they had the gated shifter and the push-button 4WD.

Yes, the 4WD A/T 3rd gens did use the A340F tranny and mated to the VF2A transfer case.

The JDM A/T 2nd gens used the A343F tranny.

 

Cebby I'm pretty sure the the 2nd gens used the A340H, which was hydraulically controlled and different from the A340F in the 3rd gens.

 

All this knowledge makes me wonder if anyone can tell me what pins on the trans. computer recieve what signals... I'm looking to find out where i can input RPM, and also Throttle Position signals After removing the ECU and installing an SDS Em4-f. I don't want to go through all the work of a 5spd, swap. I'M BROKE!!!
