Amid this hurricane of electrical problems this week, a few overzealous backyard mechanics decided that the connector on a bracket on the driver side leading edge of the valve cover (in the upper right hand corner of the 22RE badge on the vc) was bad and needed immediate and violent demolition so a field expedient splice can be made.


Does anybody know what that connector is? I believe it goes to the coil on one end. Hoping to procure one soon while I wait for my other parts to come in this week and get my beloved truck back on the road.

If want you want is just the connector, I am told (by someone on this site) that the last 5 digits of the part number are actually molded into the connector body. If both sides (male/female) of the connector are no longer available, figuring out the replacement is going to be a trick.

But in that case, it doesn't matter; you just want to get an off-the-shelf "weather pack" connector and use it to connect the two wire sets.

 

The first 5 digits of the connector part number is 90980-xxxxx where xxxxx is what scope mentions.

 

I didnt destroy it. Some guys,were in a rush to help me get out of there and the connector cracked off into several pieces that are most likely still out on the trail.

The connector is on a bracket directly above the distributor cap. I don't have the truck handy to take a picture at the moment.

 

The only connector there I can think of in that area is for the AC idle up VSV.

No biggie if so. Those valve cover VSV's are non essential and some people (myself included) decide to remove them and cap the vac lines. It's not going to make any difference to the way your motor runs by unplugging that electrical connector alone... Unless you turn on AC you will notice the idle rpms drop by about 100

That is correct. If the part he wants is the one that Jennygirl pointed out in the picture above, then the part numbers are...
90980-11038 (male)
90980-11137 (female)
The male part is available for around $3. The female part may be harder to come by, but it is available if you order the ignition pickup it is attached to.

If you need the female side, I would do as suggested and just use a weatherpack to fix it.
