What do you think of my plans?

Well, I finally purchased the truck I always wanted. A 1985 Toyota 4Runner, with that sweet little 22RE and solid front and rear axle. It is my new daily driver.
Well as soon as summer hits, off goes that fiberglass roof, those cheesy chrome (good for nothing) bumpers, as well as the rest of the chrome trim. Say goodbye to the Fisher Price roll bar, carpet and interior trim. Down goes rhino lining, a real roll bar, new bumpers, truss the front and rear axle, replace the 4cyl center sections with V6 units, Marfields, 4.88 gears, and Detroit True Trac LSD's front and rear. Off comes my 235/75-15's and on are a set of 33x12.5-15's and a 3" Downey suspension lift w/ Rancho RS 9000's. A 4.3L V6 mated to a 700R4 will later take over power duties. A snorkle, bilge pump, and custom routed 2.5" dual exhaust (for the 4.3L) will take care of my water fording capability. For now I will have to play around with my less than torquey truck, but hey... I already had to pull out my buddies Jeep ... I'll wait patiently for the summer. Then the fun begins...

get longfields not marfields

dont get the downey suspension kit. they dont flex well, go all pro or alcan or build your own.

dont get truetracs front and rear, get at least a full locker in the rear

when you get that 4.3 in you will want some V6 4.10 gears for strength and gas mileage

I agree w/ Napoleon047 on that, don't waste your money on the Downey stuff, waaay to stiff, you want soft so you can use that SFA for what it was built to do, FLEEEEEEEEEEEX.

Get longfeilds or try a set of the new Profeilds they are on sale at All Pro right now for $99 each.

All Pro's lift springs are on sale and most all the stuff you could ever dream is there too, it's a bit pricey but if you have the money to consider a 4.3 swap I think you can afford the right suspension.

Good luck and keep us updated, there is gona be alot of BIG rigs on Yotatech by the end of summer, 4ROC NC will hava at least 3 or 4 of them all wearing AP stuff, join the crowd
