Did your do the work yourself, or did a shop do it? If you're not very careful, it's very easy to roll the lip on a seal, or the retaining spring on the seal could have popped off, or the groove in the shaft you're sealing may be to deep and not sealing, the seal lip could've been nicked/cut. There are lots of reasons for leaking new seals.

I tend to use National, and I've never had an issue. But I also am very careful with installation, I put a bit of grease on the retaining spring, and I check seal fitment on the shaft and groove before I install completely. And I use a small coating of Ultra Black on the outer diameter of the seal.

I had a mechanic replace them. he said he had a tough time reattatching the engine to the tranny so im sure he messed up the rear main a bit before he got it on. I can just about guarantee he didnt lube anything. But for both seals to go out at the same time...im guessing crappy quality. To tell the truth it looks like my valve cover seal which i replaced at the same time is starting to get shiny as well. Someone told me its because i had a vacuum line capped off, and the pcv valve left open. but idk how cause ive seen breathers where they should be pcv valves on certain 22rs

My 22R had two hoses coming off the valve cover. One for PCV valve and one to the air filter housing.

It could be either bad seals, not highly likely, or bad install. If you run a seal dry, it will scorch the rubber and it cannot seal. Good quality seals generally come with a little grease on the seal lip.

Good luck bro. See if the lip retaining springs are still there on the seal lip.

Negative. The springs are on the inside of the seal. Once removed, or on a new seal, you can see the spring on the inside lip. This keeps tension on the seal lip. Examine the old seals for any damage or a hard lip. It won't be supple like a latex glove, but it shouldn't be rock hard either.
