Temp gauge rises then falls
I tried lookin for a similar thread before I posted this but didn't find one. Ok so I got my truck running new rebuilt motor an everything and it wasn't giving me any problems until now. When I start drivig it after its sat an cooled off after a few miles the temp gauge slowly creeps all the way up and almost touches
The red and stays there a few seconds then comes down and goes to normal operating temp. What is causing this thermostat? Water pump?

Sounds like the 22RE temp overshoot issue (link in post 5 is full of info):

temp overshoot
I had this problem in my old truck with 22RE. Only on cold mournings when I hit the freeway before the truck was fully warmed. For me it was a result of using an after market thermostat. Switching to Toyota brand T-stat cured the problem. Since then I've run Toyota t-stats AND Toyota coolant. It does make a difference. If that doesn't take care of it then I would look to a radiator thats not flowing properly. When was the last time you had your radiator professionally cleaned? What Bassmastery said is a good idea also.

Look into one of these, a two-stage thermostat.

Easiest was to bleed the cooling system is park your truck on a hill. Start with a cold engine and remove the rad cap and start the engine. When it reaches normal temp and the coolent is circulating, keep topping off the radiator. When it stays at the top, put the cap back on and you're done. Takes about 10 minutes and you can do it by yourself.
