Water pump question

Water pump question
My water pump is leaking just a bit of coolant from the weep hole. The motor (22re) has 238K miles on it and it is a Toyota water pump so my guess is that it's original. Is leaking out the weep hole indicative of anything? Does it mean any inner seals are worn and the pump is heading south?

Oh great! Not fun.
I'm going on vacation in a week and really don't have the time to tackle this. Any rough idea what a shop might charge?

Honestly by the time you take it into a shop and leave it there for a day and then pick it up...you could have it changed out. It only takes maybe 2 hours. It just involves taking off the intake tube, shroud, fan and belt and your there.
One suggestion would be to get a new one from the dealer, they are better than any thing you can get at the part store. Also, put some new belts on there...from the dealer too.

Just FYI the silicates in Prestone Green are slightly abrasive and will wear pump seals faster than Toyota Red. That's one reason why Japanese auto makers don't recommend silicate coolants. But given enough miles, the seals will fail even with Toyota Red. snobdds' recommendation to get a dealer pump is good; the OEM is Aisin and they will outlast any other pump. autohausaz.com sells Aisin parts for cheap and give free ground ship on orders over $50 (no affiliation - but have had good luck with them).
Good luck with it.
Good luck with it.

Be careful removing the bolts sometimes they get stuck and break, which makes an easy job into a PITA. Do not force them use penetrating oil/heat/tap with a hammer instead of brute force. Check out this thread first if you are planning on doing it your self. https://www.yotatech.com/forums/f116...broken-138709/
