Milemarker Electric Winches?????
I'm gonna buy a winch soon and have been looking at the Milemarker 9000. Peterson's Offroad said good things about them but I was wondering if anyone had "real, first hand experience" with these winches. They are priced great but I'm wondering if the old saying "You get what you pay for" is true. I don't want this to turn into a "Ford vs Chevy" battle or a "Warn vs All Others" war. I just want to know if the Milemarkers are a good investment. For $459 the price seems great, unless they suck!!! Let me know. Thanks....

Reliable and slow. They are slower than Warn/Superwinch/Ramsey, but they run much cooler and have longer life spans. And they ship with heavier duty cable. I just watched the promo video the other night. The other three broke their cables around 75% of their advertised max. The MM winches didn't break any cables, but in the speed tests they were much slower. Personally, I want something reliable, I'm into 4x'ing not racing. Slow and steady wins THIS race.

cool
Yeah, I've got a Mustang that I can race in, Funny thing is that I haven't driven it in over a month! I'm gonna sell it and buy all kinds of stuff for my Baby. I hear ya about the 4Xing, I totally agree. I'm never in a hurry when the hubs are locked. I really do like that milemarker!!!! Thanks...

I have a MM E8000 with the Masterpull 5/16" synthetic (14,500lbs) winch line and locking hook. I agree these winches are slow, but they don't have overheat problems and as far as I know running synthetic line doesn't void the warranty (a la Warn)
be advised though that the Ramsey REP 8000 is the same exact winch as the Milemarker E8000 except for the name. I have used mine quite a few times now and it hasn't missed a beat. It just gets aggravating at times trying to get the line back onto the spool in a reasonable amount of time after using the winch.:pat:

yeah, they are really slow. in my club, we have nicknamed them 'inchmarker' winches.
to save time a lot of ppl keep the first 25 or so feet of cable wrapped around their bumper/brushgaurd ends. like this:

yeah, yeah, j**ps, i know......

I am running the E9000. I haven't gotten to actually pull myslef out of anything, since I've only gone wheelin once since I got it, but I have spooled it out, and pulled it back in. Seemed pretty slow, but a lot quieter than the warn that PoBoy used to run (I helped him winch himself out)
I don't think the speed factor bothers me at all though. I don't care if I get pulled out of mud in 5 minutes, or 10, as long as I'm out!
PLus MM makes the hydraulic winches for the military, so I figureed their electrics have to be pretty decent!
that's the only pic I have with it right now.
BTW, I am pretty sure the $459 price is for the electric 9000 lb. I think the hydaulic is more.

The first day I had my Mile Marker E8000 it pulled me out of a mud hole that was half way up my sright side, slooow but it manages to pull me from the mud faster than the mud can pass the door seals. I have a TJM and the 100 ft steel cable rubbed the inside of the bumper when it was not wound tightly and it was heavy pushing the front end down alot so I got a 95ft rock stomper plasma line and spidertrax alluminum fairlead and coil spacer toi compensate the weight. The free spool no longer works but I am rebuilding it this weekend. I have used my winch after it has been summerged several times and is reliable. Slow but works alot better than a Hi Lift.

If any one else is gonna buy a winch or anything from 4wheel parts, hold off ashort while. Our club is getting this thing going where we get a 5% kickback on all purchases through our website. THe money is gonna go towards us adopting a family for christams, nad to help out a bunch of poor college kids. I will post the link when it is working.
