Question about aftermarket exhaust

I installed a Magnaflow Stainless muffler with an in-line tube resonator in front of it. My engine had only 2500 mi on it since it is a brand new 4runner. Was I supposed to wait for more miles before doing this? I hope this won't shorten engine life. Also, does a resonator diminish the performance of the performance muffler? I believe The exhaust shop installed a 14" with the part number ending in 26. It was center in offset out! Thanks fr03

Don't worry about it

Everything is fine. Dealers preinstall the Borla Exhaust on some 4runners and sell it like that so you know there is nothing to worry about

Just watch your back pocket as the longer you lurk on this board the more stuff you seem to find and buy!

Mods

Thanks Good Times! I've already been bitten by the mod bug. I've had this truck about 2 mo. and I really enjoy the few mods I've already made.

14 stainless

Hulk it was a 14" long Stainless I believe the last Numbers were 26. The muffler was a center in and an offset out. With the muffler ( Stainless) and the Stainless tip it was $199. installed!

Any pics and sound files yet? I'm planning on keeping my stock resonator and just unbolting the muffler from both ends replacing it with extension pipes so that if I ever decided to put back the stock muffler, I would just rebolt it back on. Anywho, if you don't have any sound files, how does it sound in your own words. I want mine to be a deep tone but not to throaty and just a hum at highway speeds.

Nice rumble

It has a nice rumble to it! Definately doesn't sound like a weedwacker on steroids! Also, with the resonator in front of the muffler it has a nice sound at highway cruising speeds. I really don't like the look off the Toyota resonator so close to the tail pipe because you can't make a stainless tip look right with that big can back there. Hope that helps.

Thumbs up

Thanks fr03. I think I'm going for the 18 inch muffler. I've been comparing sound files from Corey's site and feel that I'll get the tone that I'm looking for. Post any pics and sound files if you get any. I would love to see and here what it sounds like. Thanks
