94 truck 4" suspension = tire question
I was thinking about getting a 4" suspension lift for my 94 regular cab 4 cylinder truck
Just wondering what size tire i can run...
I was thinking a 34 or 35 but i just wanted to check
thanks

Yup, you will need more than a 4" suspension lift to run anything more than a 33" tire. You can crank the torsion bars, pound fender seams, and trim sheet metal. You can install a mild 1" or 2" BL also. For the rear you can try longer shackels or a mild lift block too. Most people don't like lift blocks due to increase axle wrap, but I ran a 3" block for 5 years.

With a narrow tire like that, you may not need the body lift.
Give it a try without first and see if anything rubs.
If you do end up needing it, go with Roger Brown's (4crawler) kit.
Best one out there, and excellent price too.

i have 33x12.5s with no rubbing at all on my 4" procomp. i put 35s on for a day and they rub slightly. i dont have my lower bumper up there so its impossible to rub there. but the rear was fine. the only spot is the rear of the front fender, it would work with a little cutting. but then gearing comes in, there is no way you can do 35s with stock gears. my V6 was slow as hell with stock 4:10s and 35s, i can only imagine a 4banger. id go with 33s if you dont want to regear or cut away. id say a 34x10.5 would fit though since theyre narrower.

Swampers tend to run tall, a 33" Swamper tire is something like 33.7" tall, vs. a 33" BFG that is 31.7", and nearly as tall as a 35" BFG that is 34.?" tall. Something to consider when fitting the tires. On stock wheels, they may fit, give it a shot, trim fenders as needed and if you still need some more, go with a mild body lift.

hehe i have 32x11.50's with 4" lift. i have plenty of room for 33x12.50s, but i dont think i have the gears/power. buuut, i might have to try it anyways. i am not really liking the dunlops.
with a 2nd gen truck, im sure you have a lot more clearance for tires than i do. i couldn't have fit 32x1150s stock. unless maybe i put them on a stock wheel because they would be a lot narrower... but on a 8" wheel they are wide.
with 4" suspension, i bet you could fit 34x10.50s. maybe a 35. like Todd said, get the tire first, then if you need to, throw on a 1 or 2" body lift. yeah and you will probably have to regear... my 2.7 and 5spd is quite sluggish. hard to start out on hills anyways.
well hope i helped.

Let me give the run down. What are you going to use the vehicle for? Standard off road use or rock? I have 2nd gen 4runner with 3 inch body lift 1.5 coil in the rear and torsion bars turned up 3/4 inch. I run a Goodyear MTR 35x12.5x 15 on an 8 inch wheel. The only time the tires rub is with a sharp turn with a bump. This serves the purpose for me as I do not use the truck for rock. My dad has the same setup on a 90 truck reg cab lift wise. We hammered up the front fender on the bottom by the door slightly. Took our hands and bent the front bumper at a 45% on the side and he runs a 36 swamper. He has run these for 5 years with no problems minor rubs when using in mild offroad conditions. So you guys can say what you want but tire size should be based on what you use the vehicle for. I also have plenty of photos to back up my claims. So if you run a 32 with 4 inches of lift then great but if you want to run bigger you can. If you use the vehicle for rock dont run a 34 or 35. If you use it for street then put a 35 on the truck. You may have to regear the truck but it will work. I have a friend with a 88 toyota truck with 4 cylinder and he runs a 38 bogger. Stock gears and yes the truck is pretty guttless but put it in 4 low and it does great.

ya you can check out some of my pics the link is in my profile below. also the interco trxus mud terrain comes in a 34x12.50 size, so fits nicely in between 33 and 35. might wanna check that out.,
