My New Creation: Speaker Box

Just got done with my new speaker box. This time I went with a "Line-x" finish and it turned out great.

Front

Back

6X9

Installed on original shelf mounts

View between seats

1 of 3 terminal cups on bottom side

Took a lot of time, but was not too hard. Give it a try!

Sorry, my camera was down for the main part of the build. It was nothing special though. I ordered MDF rings on Ebay and glued them to the MDF base. Covered it all with felt and added the fiberglass...just like my last project I detailed on YotaTech.

Looks AWESOME! Soon I'll have a center console housing two 8" subs, but I'll little to no fiberglass. Fiberglass enclosures flex too much when you throw a lot of power at them.
Again good job and the line-x gives it that "off-road" touch and feel.

Those side speakers look huge (maybe it's just the picture), are they 6x9?

I have read about the flex issues, but did not think I would have too much problem with the 10" woofer my small amp. Plus, I used "Baltek Mat" between my fiber layers. I used it only on the flat surfaces of the box, as the rounded surfaces are suppose to be stronger.

Here is the link to where I ordered the Baltek.

I figured it was reinforced(sp) in some way. But I, personally, only use fiberglass to make some stuff look good. I like to build enclosures to certain specs to get the sound I want and flex changes those specs.

Are the 6x9s in separate chambers or the enclosure one open space?

No I did not. My camera was down. I used my kids camera to take the final photos. The surface looked the same as it does now, but was the color of the body filler I used.

Next build I will make sure to take more photographs.
