Turns out she only had a bump on the head and the Jeep was drivable afterward. Wow!!

 

That sucks! I would hate to have been the driver of that thing! Plus it would have never happened in a 4runner anyway!!

I had not seen that one. It looked like the spotter was a little slow to get the Heep where it should have been...

The spotter sends her to her left, then he sees she is in dutch and changes it back to her right. By that time though... her hood seems so high she is not seeing him anymore.

Regarding it happening in a 4Runner, I wonder if it would have had the same result in a longer wheelbase vehicle. Either way, tough climb and tougher landing...

 

So is this roll the spotter's fault?
It looks like she didn't take it as much to the right as she should have... something the guy should have foreseen? Or is this one of those things where the Jeep was going to roll no matter what?

 

Not at all. The spotter called for a soft left correction followed by a hard right correction. The driver never responded to the hard right correction for whatever reason. The driver could have disengaged the clutch or braked and saved it but in any event, I think it was a damn good learning experience for that driver.

 

Whoooooo-Hooooooo! Yeeeee Haaaawww! That's the way to do it! If you dont' do it wrong by yourself, how the heck do you learn? I love that video! I bet she was a lil shaken up, but I bet she was wanting to try it again!

 

I like to watch the rockcrawling contests. Its amazing how a spotter with a tow strap tied to the front bumper can keep those vehicles from rolling. Anything that technical should be a warning: watch a few other people do it first before you try. Stand where the spotter is so you can see the line exactly. Then you will be anticipating his directions.
