Your starter contacts are bad:
1. Buy new contacts at the dealer, open starter and replace for a total of about an hours time and 30 bucks.

2. Buy a new starter.

To get home have your friend give the starter a tap while you try and turn the key. If that doesnt work try rolling a bit and turning the key while in neutral.

sounds like you have a bad connection, give all you connections a good wiggle, should be tight, and check the battery and its connections again.

check the wire going to the fuse box behind the battery. if you dont have a tue down on it it could damage the wire

the terminals are clean right? just because you have power to stuff in the cab doesent mean that the connections are gunna support the kind of amperage required to turn over that starter.

Oh, and if you haven't done the starter before, and aren't a professional mechanic you're not gunna get it off and back on in an hour lol...

DARN!! I was just getting to ready to suggest you probably need to rebuild the engine.
