Your starter contacts are bad:
1. Buy new contacts at the dealer, open starter and replace for a total of about an hours time and 30 bucks.

2. Buy a new starter.

To get home have your friend give the starter a tap while you try and turn the key. If that doesnt work try rolling a bit and turning the key while in neutral.

why would all my power go out on the dash and interior?

:bump: help me out guys could the truck be grounding out somewhere?

sounds like you have a bad connection, give all you connections a good wiggle, should be tight, and check the battery and its connections again.

...and make sure no wires are fraid and mangled either!

youngyota88 12-08-2007 11:03 PM

check the wire going to the fuse box behind the battery. if you dont have a tue down on it it could damage the wire

i checked it and i have power at the fuse box so could it be that it is grounded or something has come disconected at the ecu ?

the terminals are clean right? just because you have power to stuff in the cab doesent mean that the connections are gunna support the kind of amperage required to turn over that starter.

Oh, and if you haven't done the starter before, and aren't a professional mechanic you're not gunna get it off and back on in an hour lol...

yes the terminals were cleaned last night the battery was the first thing that i suspected because it is hella old but everything seems to be working fine on it my battery charger says it has a full charge and we tryed jumping it to and nothing worked:think:

got it fixed nobody guessed what it was tho, it was giving power but very little the battery terminals were clean but the connections had just enough cerosion on them to not give enough power to the truck, i stripped all the wires and cleaned connectors, started right up thanks for ur guy's input

DARN!! I was just getting to ready to suggest you probably need to rebuild the engine.
