stumbling!! i don't know what to do

ok so i did some searching and could not find what i was looking for. i have a 1988 pickup 3.0 with 210,000 miles on it. at first it would stumble only when i floor it taking off in first gear. then it does it when i shift into second and floor it. but now it has been doing it on the freeway when im in fifth gear at about 3000-3500 rpms. it is is random and its pissing me off. what should i do???

I was going to say the same thing. With such randomness 0 the fuel filter is a good place to start!

did you check you intake hose I had a stumble that I thought was that my dist cap not sealed well only had the stumble when it rained
so I sealed the dist cap and still had it took off the intake hose and there was a crack or split in it.
I bought some flexy hose kit but it did not work it was just a little bit too big.

I ended up siliconeing it with some blue silicone then painting all 3 parts to hopefuly stop it from drying out any more.

my crack was on the piece attached to the T/B on the bottom where you could not see it unless you took it off
I also replaced the factory hose clamps with new hose clamps at the same time

A MAF sensor with a broken prong will do exactly that.

It's on top of the air filter. It's connected to the big hose that goes to the Throttle Body. Just pry that black plastic window off it and you'll be able to see everything. Be warned, don't mess with the prongs if they look OK or if they act OK when the throttle is moved forward. They are very fragile. You can put the plastic window back on and seal it with some clear silicone. If you do decide to get a new one (remanufactured anyway) make sure you meter test it as described in the FSM, and keep your old one until you figgered out if that is the prob or not (there is a core charge).
