Rear 4runner seats flip forward?

So i can see a hinge on the front of the rear seats, but I have no clue how to flip the seats up. My truck didnt come with the owners manual, so I have no clue how to flip the seat up.

There should be a loop, like seatbelt material in the center of each side, pull it to unlock the bottom. You might have to stick your hand between the seat back and bottom to find it.

There should be a loop in between the split backrest and the bottom. If you cant find it then dig around a little. Pull on the loop and the seat will flip up.

That is only correct for some rear seats as they did not all come with a loop, nor do they all lock. The ones in my 87 simply flip up down, no loop, no lock.

I have an 86 with loops. They sometimes fall all the way under the seat in which case you need to unbolt the hinges from the cab in order to undo the latch that the loops connect to.

What?? You do not need to unbolt them. Just get your hand down in between the seats, and fish around until you find that strap.

Some runners did not have that strap, but those are non-factory seats. (and by factory, I mean MADE by Toyota, and installed AT the factory). Those were added at the port/dealership when the trucks came in by a company called Kustom Fit in most cases.

Hah... It's been a year or more since I remembered that the 1st gen runner's seats will fold down, and I still haven't been able to find my strap. Just haven't gotten around to unbolting the seat yet. And no, I've even dug in there with a 14" screwdriver, and still haven't been able to find that damn loop...
