Rear tail gate window regulator assembly

'93 2nd generation 4Runner. You know the plastic roller piece affixed on the end of the regulator arm - it rolls along / inside the track? It's busted !! Holy moly, how am I gonna find one?? The local junkyards don't have any of these generation 4runners right now. Any leads appreciated. Racking my brain for some DIY cheese, but it's a tricky one.

Try online. I bought manual regulator super cheap though Amazon. Rear regulator couldn't be that much more.

Why are so many people afraid of looking for parts at the Toyota Dealer? (Oh, yeah. Price.)

https://parts.lakelandtoyota.com/p/T...980189122.html

You can also get this part on Amazon, eBay, and even from Megazip in the UAE, but you don't save real money. All around $130 or much higher.

For that price, you MIGHT be able to get a machine shop to make one for you, but given that you'll have to come up with "drawings" you'll have to think hard about that.

my local Ace Hardware has drawers full of metric and SAE nylon/plastic etc bushings. I have found stuff like there and had it work as a replacement

and it helps to say what gen your are talking about since this folder covers 1st and 2nd gen 4runners
maybe add your truck info to your signature

Yes.
It would save everybody time if everybody asking questions / help would have "model-year-engine-transmission-trim" on their signatures.

Hard to justify spending $130+ on a full regulator assembly (mine's in good shape) because this plastic piece broke. I'll try the hardware store, but am not hopeful being in a small town and having played this game before with windshield wiper control arm bushings for a Subaru.

If anybody has seen this problem and figured out a DIY fix, I'm all ears! Maybe I'll give it a go with JB Weld...

I added my truck to my signature. Hope I don't suffer too much discrimination for the RHD diesel import. Same chassis parts as 2nd gen 4Runners!

I'm going to the junk yard this Friday, I can snag you one from the dozens we have here. Whole assembly if needed.

Hey that's a nice offer. I'm in BC Canada. Where are you located? If this price is right and you're willing to ship I'm all ears, but like I mentioned, I'm hoping to try to not scrap the regulator I have.

I think you might need to drill out a rivet to get the piece I'm looking for.

Just to finish off this post - thanks to se7enine for sending me the pieces you see above in the pic he posted. Easy weld job. Zip off the old, weld on the new. Didn't have to to find a whole new regulator. Mission accomplished!

The next thing to go is the track attached to the window. Right side is rusting out nice. If you ever have the tail gate off, DRILL BIGGER DRAIN HOLES! Mine like to clog - they're too small, and easy for crud to build up.

I'll enjoy the working tailgate window for the time being...
