is a pickup window regulator the same as a 4runner window regulator?

See topic. I just spent two hours trying to shoehorn a 4Runner window regulator into my pickup door. I couldn't get all the bolts to line up, and the few that I could get to line up wouldn't let the window use its full range of motion (ie it'd stop about six inches from the bottom).

Anyone know for sure if the power window regulators are identical between pickups and 4runners of the same year? (my truck is a 94, donor runner is a 93).

I should point out it wasn't till after the two hours were over I noticed the little 'R' stamped on the motor.. and presumably I should have been using the 'L' motor, since I was working on the driver's door. That might have been a large part of the problem.

Does anyone have any pictures of a 2nd gen runner's drivers door without the door panels?

Thanks,

Isaac

does your truck have a wing window? They are different between wing and non-wing windows.

Wing and non-wing are different... power and non power are different. However, 4Runner to Pickup should be same, so should 90ish to 95.

My truck is a 94 pickup, no ventilator. Donor was a 93 4runner, no ventilator. By all logic it should fit. I should have paid more attention when I was ripping it out of the runner. I couldn't find any way to have the channel bolts and the regulator bolts all line up to something all at the same time (and I know they should, the FSM shows 8 bolts holding the thing together).

I'll try more today maybe, using the L motor (the L and R are driver and passenger respectively, yes?)

Thanks for the help,

Isaac

edit: you know, I don't actually -remember- seeing or not seeing a ventilator window. I didn't even think to look, really. Maybe the donor truck -did- have a ventilator. Aren't the regulators very very different (like one is scissor type and the other only has one window channel or something)?

For the 84-89 they are... I would image not a lot changed for the 90 to 95's

yeah, I checked the fsm and the regulators are completely different. i've definitely got non-vent regs, which is good. anyways, i'm going to try to figure out how to mount the L motor, and i've got more info about how they should mount, so we'll see what i can rig up.

writeup coming!
