video cards.......

hey guys, I just bought the game world of warcraft and after playing it for a while, with a 32 mb integrated video card......its not cutting it. so what is a good recomendation for a 128 mb video card in the 130 range. I'm not exactly sure what ports I have, I know its not AGP or PCI express so that must mean it is PCI but is PCI one long section with a short section? sorry if I havent made this very clear, but the help would be very nice.

Jeff

um PCI slots are white, AGP are dark grey kinda, but you said you dont have that...

if your computer is fairly old it may have an ISA slot which is black, and noticably bigger than PCI

i've always like PNYs nVidia cards and usually spend around $100, so maybe look into those?

So you are using on board graphics then.
All the AGP slots I have seen in the past 5 years or so are brown, at least on Asus boards they are.

Can you get the info for us on your mother board?
You should see the info at bootup.

I am running an ATI 9600 Pro (128 mb) AGP card for now until cash flow improves.
That card plays the game perfectly.

Data, from what I read over on DSL Reports forums, the BFG aftermarket cards (NVIDIA) are best if you are going with NVIDIA.

They overclock them for you, and also include beefier fans.

Also lifetime warrenty.

I've never heard of them. I'm thinking of doing some sort of SLI setup, but I'm not sure what I want to do yet. I might just build a regular gaming box. Here is what I currently have sitting in the closet.

1 gb PC3200
AMD Athlon 64 2800+
MSI mobo

I just took a look at those BFG Tech cards. They look pretty sweet. Overclocked right out of the box. Might have to pick me up one.

Now I have to decide on whether to stick with the ATI X800 XL I wanna get when some Boeing bucks roll in, or switch to NVIDIAs camp and get one of these.

Both are great cards.

Yeah Corey, both look real nice. My boss just picked up a BFG 6800 and it rocks.

I have heard over on DSL Reports it gets hot.
Can you change the fan system to a better one?

[side track]
Danny, when are you going to play UT 2004 with us?
You will need some more files, as I have been adding a few more custom maps and a new mutator called UT Comp.

More info can be found in my sig at the bottom.

Andy dumped both BF2s, it is not worth running them, as you can not have stats unless you rent the server directly from EA Games greedy pockets.

Corey I have no clue when I'll play. I've been caught up in Battlefield 2. I'll have to get UT 2004 installed on the laptop.
