CD Dash Kits where do ya'll get them?
Looking for a dash kit to install my CD player in my pickup. Its a 1990 yota.
I've seen universal ones, but not sure if thats it or not. Any direction ya'll can provide i sure appreciate it.

most walmarts have an audio department you could get them out but do a search at amazon or crutchfield and find a part number and then look for the best price from that.
personally, i was too cheap over the years and like the original cubby under the radio in our 87, so i just made the radios over the years fit it! it's a pain in the ass sometimes and a kit would be easier but the jvc that is in there works and looks good for now!

i dont think you need one, once you pull the old one the new deck will have holes on the side to use the original mount to mount it, i did it in my 95, the same dash, and it looks clean like its supposed to be there. you got a pic of your dash now im not seeing why you think you need one

If you are just going single DIN you should'nt need a kit the factory mounting brackets will attach to most aftermarket headunits I've seen with no problem, and are quite solid.
The wiring harness is another matter you may want a kit for that.

but it's a little different story when you're needing to put the stereo in a newer truck, say a 2005+ Tacoma

the wiring harness does help, but it's not completely needed

Yeah with those "integrated" dash panels they use in the newer vehicles you have no choice you need to get a dash kit to allow you to install an aftermarket unit. I'll never understand why they felt they had to go with those "built in" units...

I am going to get the newest 5th gen 4 runner. has anyone installed a aftermarket head unit yet? does anyone have instructions on how to remove the stock deck? And where to get a dash kit? I know this vehicle is still really new but any help would be great!!
