1. I'm impressed with your DIY can-do attitude!

2. Totally agree with your philosophy of working with the body lines for the flat bed and not against them

3. That's one trick jerry can holder!

One of these days I'll take the plunge and flat bed my rig also. I estimated I would be into as much as you are, so I'm biding my time.

Great work and thanks for posting all the pictures. Love the black and tan colors!

I was wanting to put that flatbed design on my truck. How much would you charge for one completed ready to bolt on to the same bodystyle truck?

WOW um.. well, the problem is I don't have the time. However, let me run it by John and see if he would be into doing it. He would be much faster than me and he was there the whole time I did mine and he knows the design.

well I wouldn't be ready for it until the spring because I live in Tahoe and I need my truck for the snow season, but if you and john are down to doing the work, I'll pay you for your time and materials.

SHEESH! California cops are on it!
I have been stopped 3 times in the past 4 months in my rig. Got stopped this morning. 3 for no mudflaps and one for my rig looking like "a Toyota that was stolen last night."
Everything else on my truck is California compliant. The 2 Sheriffs that stopped me said the mudflap is a "chicken#$%& law." However, they have to do their job. They told me CHP is kinda sticky about the mudflap issue.
So today I monkeyed together some mud flaps. They are removable and I think they look like A$$!! At least I made them easy to take on and off.
oh well.
I also painted my gas can an army olive.

Yes, I believe that. Sounds kind of like an uncle of mine. He would grab the first thing in sight and monkey it up.

Great Work

Thats 2 jobs that look like they came off the factory floor! I like that you stayed way out of the box on the design, The trucks got "Curves" so should the headache rack.

Did you sell your old softtopper? Want to?

Ha! I thought about that as I was rolling out of the driveway on my Joshua Tree trip. Sure these AZ cops never look twice, but you're going to Cali bub. You better be ready. So I threw my old flaps in the truck, stopped by Home Depot for some cheapy chain, and hoped for the best. I guess I just lucked out cuz I never even got a second glance.

Yeah well some folks have no use for these goofy laws so they just do the minimum. Especially if you have a $500 dollar beater you just fool around in, you don't want to drop a hundy on "mud flaps".

i did paint them. I actually had them mounted on it before and the muffler burned one of them pretty bad. So, I painted them.
I ordered a set of plain ones and they will be here sometime this week.

I noticed that too. Good idea. I would have flipped them over and made poor Sam face the tires.

Nice work, as usual.
