Toyospearo's FLATBED build...

I might add a leaf to the spring pack. I just put new OME leafs on and they seem to be fine for now.
The jack location is kind of a test. This week I am heading into the mountains and sort of test things out.

I added a leaf to the springpack. Sits up a bit higher than level now and is a little more stiff! I took it out to break it in this weekend and get things dusty..
Oh yea, the jerry can is an issue.
Sometime next week I am going to fab something up and attach it somewhere on the bed.

I had far too many issues with my gas jerry can on my last wheeling trip so I decided to come up with something new. I had John help me with the desgin. It is super solid and strong!!

here is where it is mounted- To the tool box...

floats off the bed by a few inches...

welded a big washer and glued a rubber stopper to hold it in place with the turn knob...

I rigged in a pin switch detonator located in a secret spot only I know where the on/off is. When the dirtbag attempts to remove the gas can... KAPPPOOOWWWW!!! 5 gallon gas bomb!!!!
Just kidding.
I am working on some way to secure it

That is by far the most amazing flatbed I've ever seen
. And I grew up around fab happy rednecks in the mountains where flatbeds were as abundant as Bud Light!
I hope you cataloged and documented everything. I was on the fence forever about putting a flatbed on my truck, now I've officially made my decision. Only if you do the
for me! Great job man!

Got the gas can secured. It won't keep them for stealing it but it will take them a little longer
Took it out for a spin. Did some pretty decent wheeling. No wheeling shots (I was alone and couldn't get any decent pics of it in action.)
With the the gearing, the Aussie and the flatbed (weight) the thing will literally climb a Redwood tree! I am totally amazed at what this little truck will do. And it hasn't even started raining yet

The only reason I read this thread is because I knew you would do something pretty amazing (after seeing your attention to detail in your SAS thread) and I have to say I am amazed! That is one flatbed I would LOVE to have on my truck. Nice work!
