What exactly are you wanting to do? Swap the hard top between the 4Runner and pickup? Remove the 4Runner top and put soft tops on both vehicles? Modify the 4Runner hard top to be something different?

I'm subscribing because I hope he answers that he wants to make his 88 pickup a convertible like the 1st gen runners. Then I'm hoping the answer will apply to my 85 pickup.

yes i want to cut the roof off but put it back on when it rains. the dodge mini trucks had this in the early to mid 80's, they were a soft top.

They were modified by ASC IIRC. No company that I know makes a kit, but top shops and sunroof companies would be your best lead.

Try ASC (american sunroof company) They built and installed the factory convertible tops on Toyota Celicas, MR2's, and Solaras.

Hey did you ever figure out any tips on how to do this. That's what I want to do to my first gen too. I was thinking moonroof, but hell.. just want the whole thing to be able to come off and put it back on of course. Have to mod the doors too and build a full roll cage.
