Thats a good first try. Id redo them out of something thicker, atleast 3/16'' and either a bigger diameter or add more bars and some gussets as well as plating the frame and you will be happier because you will actually be able to use them against rocks and trees. Rock bars have a tuff job and need to be really strong, otherwise you might as well go with some cheapy smitty built steps if its the look your after.I think those are 1/8'' wall as well. Another thing is you might as well have them go all the way to the front of the door instead of starting so far back. I do like the look of those, so you might aswell make them tuff enough to use.

ok so i went out yesterday and tried to rip the rockers off on some boulders after hearing all of the thoughts of them not working i figured if i succeeded in tearing breaking or bending them ide add at least one more leg. but they held up just as i had thought i actually tried to inflict damage and slammed down with force directly on the slider on a couple different boulders and they just slid me right off. on one rock i actually high centered myself on my slider and got stuck for a couple minutes since i dont have lockers yet the 2 tires on that side were just spinning but i managed to eventually work my way off. so after withstanding the beating with only scratches im sure theyll be fine. and i was wrong about the thickness i checked a scrap peice i had and it is 3/16 and its hard to tell from the pictures but the support bars are plated and braced along the top to prevent any bending upwards with 4 bolts off each leg attaching it to the frame. and ya i guess i never really noticed the u-bolts ill have to hack those down thanks. unfortunantly i didnt get any pictures of my rockers when they were slammed onto the rocks but this is one of the rocks i drove forward off of and let the slider smash down hard instead of tryin to ease it. ill try and get some pictures of the sliders up on a boulder soon but thanks for the tips some of it has been helpful

Typically "riding" means your on a motorcycle. Now "driving", "wheeling", "rallying", or in some cases "commuting" is what us Americans do in our toyotas. We dont ride our trucks.

I built my sliders on my 86 4runner with 1.5" square tubing the same thickness as you and decided to test them out and when I came down on a rock I heard "BANG SCREECHHH" and they worked perfectly.

no. rock sliders replace running boards and get either welded or bolted to the frame to provide rigidity.

^ like highonpottery said they are bolted to the frame for a stirdy mount to give protection and allow sliding or pivoting over rocks, stumps, water bars, etc...
