Your 4runner looks sweet a hell. I really like how u mounted ur rear shocks. The square tube looks really clean and u can use it to tie down gear. Just a question, am looking at doing the same solid axel swap u did. i am wanting to swap in a 350small block, do u think i can stick with the stock axel and early yota axel, built up of course? do u think they will hold up to the added horse, or should i go with something stronger? I have a 1990 4runner with a 5 speed. i am a pretty decent welder and have access to a shop so i am confident i can do it just not sure what to go with? thanx keep up the great work cant wait ta see it finished!!!!!!

Its not the axles you'll have to worry about its that 5 speed you'll have to worry about blowing up...

You can easily break the axles too not just the 5speed. If you want to run yota axles with a mildy if even really built 350 you will definetly want axle trusses, knuckle gussets, 30spline longs and new axles in the rear. The 3rd would be your weak link next. the 5speed will hold a 350 but will go out faster than a gm unit. 350's are also really heavy and take alot of custom work to put into your yota (granted its definetly possible aspecialy if you can weld and are good at fab work). If I were you ide maybe just go with a 4.3 from a chevy. lighter with great power, aftermarket is huge and your yota parts will hold much better. Thats what I think in your case if you want to stick with the yota axles and tranny. Also a chevy 4.3 from a running blazer will only set you back 1 to 2k if that

your not going to want any seat with the side support on the part you sit on, I had a set of racing seat and the bar that runs through that support racks your balls every time on entering and exiting, and with that much lift its not going to be a good thing. If you dont think so, just wait and see. Oh, and your truck is coming along nice, props man.

i had a set of wrap around rx-7 seats that were super comfy in my '83 with 5 inches of lift and 35's...needless to say the seats were excellent (and inexpensive) but i had that issue as well. i also worried about prematurely wearing out the bolster and high lip on the seat as i slid in and out of the truck. my solution was getting into the habit of putting my hand on the door sill as i got in and out so as to sort of pole-vault myself over the bolster. once i got in the habit of doing that, it was easy. when i sold the truck and bought my gti (dropped 1.25") i was still in the habit...let me tell ya, you look like an idiot getting out of a lowered gti that way.

speaking of that gti, it had corbeau racing seats. i dont know which model because they were in it when i bought it, but they took some getting used to. the seats were a bit rigid for my liking (i really liked the fit of the rx-7 seats much better). another consideration to take into account is how wide you and/or your passengers are. a couple of my non-skinny-white-boy friends had trouble being comfortable in my gti. well, this is way too long for a comment on seats! good luck.

Well, I'd have to say it is really all about personal preference, But dont say I did not warn you. Unless your climbing in the window of a race car those seats will get you in the anus and testies every time, sad but true.

The typical jeep axles actualy arent much stonger than the toyota axles to be completly honest. The jeeps came with either dana 30 or 35's and 44's If you could score some 60's youd be set for life. As far as were to look... search the forums a bit more on solid alxe swaps and type in dana 44 and dana 60 aslo for motor swaps check out the 4.3 swap. You can find all the info on here and web. Aslo were to buy best places I find are usualy craigslist

Ya the big thing here is the size of my tunnel and the space I have to work with. I have a nice Tilt steering wheel so I dont really see how im gonna be racking myself getting in but if it happens Ill admit you told me so

Thanks Idayota the corbeau's do look a bit stiff and look like they may be hard to work with but I dont know if I could fit the rx-7 seats. And again for the size matter i really need the smallest I can find I think. Could you measure your RX-7 seats for me? maily im looking for mounting dimensions and width from lowest and widest spot. also if you have some pics that would be cool. im sure i could find this all on the forum or web somewere but hell if you gotem haha

i'd love to help you out, but i sold the truck 3 years ago...sorry man. from what i remember, the front mounts were about 1 inch narrower than the stock bucket seat mounts. it does seem to me that they were pretty wide across the seat (full bucket with good side bolsters). i'll see if i can come up with some pictures for you. if it were me, i'd take a measurement of your available space and plan an excursion to the wrecking yard, tape measure in hand. most of the places i frequent take all the good seat sets out and put them in a warehouse for guys just like us. pick through 'em to see if there are any that will work. usually you can get a pretty good deal. one time i traded strait across...a killer set of 97 civic buckets for my torn 92 yota bench seat. just depends on what they think they can make money on. hope this helps.

Thats not a bad idea at all. I think i may just have to make a trip to a wreking yard maybe. theres a few good ones in the lynnwood area here.

Anyone in the Seattle area selling a flatbed trailer??? I decided not to go with that one I have pics of just because it would take alot of work to fix up and I dont really feel like doing both my truck and trailer right now

I need to get the thing running and back on the trails already

Ive had a few people comment on my rear shocks and how easy it will be to remove them. You can see the main bolt has plenty of space and the back bolt looks like it might be tough to get to but its easily reached with a wrench

Drivers side shock (dont mind the wires they will be tucked away )

naw, i dont work at a wrecking yard, just do my best to haggle with the guys at 'em. i grew up in the tri-cities, washington. the wrecking yard to hit there is pasco auto wrecking. from there i moved to boise. in boise the yards to go to are tnt auto wrecking, dillon's auto wrecking and jalopy jungle in nampa. not sure what they have up by lewiston, but if your down by boise sometime, those are the yards to hit.
